Dolores Cortese

Dolores Cortese, 81 of Somerset, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 14, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Sacco) Ruggiero.
Dolores worked for many years as a computer programmer for Brooklyn College Alumni Association before retiring some years ago. She was a member of the Red Hatters, loved to sing and dance, and loved her games of Mahjong. Dolores had a sense of humor that those who knew her will always remember. Mainly though, she loved her family, and she will be deeply missed, but will forever be in our hearts.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband Philip. She’s also survived by her adoring children,daughter Georgette Ippoliti and husband Russel, of Piscataway, NJ and son Gregg Cortese and wife Teri of Norwalk, CT. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Russel and Michael Ippoliti, and Brianna and Christopher Cortese. Dolores is also survived by her sister Ella Stea and her brothers, Frank Ruggiero and wife Kathy, and Salvatore Ruggiero.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 17, from 2:00-4:00 and from 7:00-9:00 at Sheenan Funeral Home 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A mass will be celebrated on Monday January 18 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Piscataway. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dolores’ name to ALSA.org
