Winslow Darrell Harris, 95 passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at Complete Care Woodlands in Plainfield NJ.
Winslow was born in Barbados on February 17, 1926. He went to school in the parish of St Lucy where he grew up. He married Olive Thomas on December 20, 1952. He graduated from University of Cambridge with a degree in French, Spanish and Latin studying through correspondence. He taught at St. Giles Primary School and Parkinson High School for 24 years, He played the violin and the guitar. He loved classical music and he played the violin on the radio several times in Barbados. Reading was another passion. Winslow sometimes read more than 1 book at one time.
In 1969, Winslow and family immigrated to Brooklyn, New York. He started working at Merrill Lynch in 1970 and worked there for 21 years until his retirement in 1991. He started taking graduate courses in accounting when he got hired by Merrill Lynch.
Winslow is preceded in death by his mother Matilda Harris and two sisters Oliver Rouse and Mildred Cadogan.
Winslow is survived by daughters Selina and Ruth Harris; grandchildren Fabian and Kimberly Thompson and Mark Harris.
The viewing will be from 9:30 – 11:30 AM and the funeral will be at 11:30 in Christ United Methodist Church, Piscataway. The Interment will be at Hollywood Memorial Cemetery in Union
