William R Hamilton Obituary

William “Bill” Richard Hamilton departed this life peacefully on May 21, 2022, at the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Elizabeth, NJ.  He celebrated his 80th birthday there on May 6th with a family party.

Known to his family and childhood friends as Rich and to many others as “Bill”; he grew up in Bound Brook, NJ.  Fortuitously, he attended New Brunswick Vocational & Technical High School in New Brunswick, NJ. It was here that he learned the basics of plumbing, a trade that was his profession and passion for the balance of his life.  After working for others, he was able to start his own business (Hamilton Plumbing) and sustain that for the rest of his life.  He became a Master Plumber and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with those who worked for him, especially his beloved assistant, Jimmy Walyga.

When not working, he enjoyed spending time with his children, stepchildren and grandchildren.  He enjoyed his many visits to Canada to see his son, Bill, and grandsons and the numerous weeks spent in the Outerbanks in North Carolina.  Whether related by blood or marriage, his children and grandchildren were his family and his love for his family knew no limits. He loved them all and they loved him unconditionally.

He is survived by his son, Bill Hamilton and his wife Courtney of Alberta, Canada; his daughter, Jessica Ku and her husband Edgar of Summerville, SC; his stepchildren, Kathryn Kopp of Piscataway, NJ and Michael Kopp of Riegelsville, PA; granddaughters, Kaila Kopp-Baez and Kathryn Lopez of Piscataway, NJ and Jacelynn Robinson of Canada; and grandsons Jaxon Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton, Dylan Hamilton, Zain Robinson of Canada.  He is also survived by his brother James Hamilton, his wife, Sharon, and their family; his former wife and lifelong friend, Judy Nordell of Easton, PA; and his former wife, Karen Hamilton.

He was predeceased by his parents William J. Hamilton and Lillie Akers Hamilton, and his sister Catherine Hamilton Schmidt.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Bill during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, please direct all donations to the Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Elizabeth, NJ so that they may continue their work and provide care to others. Donations may be made at https://www.cfhh.org/donate.html
