William G. Markell

William G. Markell, 75, of Green Brook, NJ passed away on November 15 in Somerville, NJ.
Bill was born in Newark, NJ to Robert and Frances Markell on August 25, 1948. He went to Green Brook School and Dunellen High School and graduated from Rutgers University with a Degree in Psychology. He married Linda Praizner on August 18, 1973 in Piscataway, NJ.
Bill worked for Easterseals New Jersey for 38 years retiring in 2009. He was Plant Manager of the Raritan Valley Workshop in New Brunswick, NJ. Born with a disability, Bill devoted his life to helping other disabled people reach their full potential. He won many awards at Easterseals for his creative, compassionate work. In 2014, he was deeply honored when Easterseals named a business line after him: Markell Counseling.
Bill always had a welcoming smile on his face and lived life to the fullest. He loved sports, folk music and being with family and friends. He will be sorely missed!
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances, his wife, Linda, and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his daughter, Staci, three grandchildren, Stella, Roman, and Norah and his brother, Bob, and sister, Wynn.
Friends may visit the family on Monday, November 20 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Piscataway, with inurnment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
