William Francis Ronca Obituary

William Francis Ronca, 35, of Dunellen, passed away on March 9, 2022.

William was born in Somerset to Thomas and Mary Theresa Ronca on April 21, 1986. He attended Dunellen Public Schools and graduated in 2004. He later went on to receive a welding certification from the Maritime Welding and Shipfitting CDA Training Group in Jacksonville, FL. He worked as a welder/crane operator for NJ Transit Rail.

Billy spent his entire life as a resident of Dunellen. In his youth he could be found playing baseball for the Dunellen Little League, showing off his juggling skills that he learned in Mr. De Lauro’s sixth grade class and riding his bike around town with friends until the streetlights came on. As an avid NYY fan, it was a rare sight to see him out and about without sporting his Yankee cap. Billy shared a passion of all things cars that he had the pleasure to enjoy throughout his life with his Dad. The pair spent years traveling in the family’s trusty 1972 Winnebago motorhome to Dover, DE for NASCAR races. There wasn’t a single race they missed from 1990-2000. Together, they also prepared and raced their go-karts in the WKA Asphalt Oval division throughout the Tri-state area, which his sister Carly would participate in with them. He had a love for boating and fishing with good friends, Jon & Shaun. He also enjoyed his motorcycles and throwing around a baseball with friends. He had a remarkable ability for metal working/fabricating and welding projects in his home shop and found joy in doing so. He volunteered a great deal of his time being of service to his neighbors with whom he held dear friendships with. He had a love for dogs and enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Ella. He had an intense love for his family and friends.

William is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Theresa Ronca; his maternal grandparents, Michael & Margaret Crowley; his paternal grandparents, Rocco William & Anne Emma Ronca; his uncles, William F. Ronca, Patrick Coughlin & William White; and his cousin, Owen Coughlin.

He is survived by his father, Thomas A. Ronca, of Dunellen; his sisters, Kelly Ann, of Bedminster; and Carly Marie, of Effort, PA. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and his loving cousins, John, Tracy, Chris, Adam, Dale, Ben, Ally, Bryan, Pat & Christopher.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, March, 16, from 6:00-9:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, at 11:00am at the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately. He will rest in eternal peace next to his beautiful mother at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ.
