It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Vicente Valentin Jimenez, who departed this life on May 6th, 2025, at the age of 99. He will be sorely missed and leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by all his family.
Born on November 3rd, 1925, in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Vicente came to the United States in 1966 and spent the rest of his life in New Jersey. He lived a life defined by unwavering love, quiet strength, and a deep dedication to his family and community. A man of integrity, his kind heart and wisdom shaped generations.
Vicente is survived by his devoted wife married for 67 years, Hortensia, his sons Ray (Raimundo) and Enrique; and is preceded in death by his beloved son Vicente Jr. He leaves behind five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each of whom carries a piece of his spirit in their hearts. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the lessons he passed down, and the example he set. Vicente was known for his warm sense of humor, craftsmanship, generosity, and selfless nature.
He found joy in tending his garden, sharing memories over coffee, and reminiscing about his deep-sea fishing adventures in Cuba and his love for motorcycle racing. A skilled carpenter, he built high-quality luxury furniture in his shop in Cienfuegos before building a new life in the U.S. He worked tirelessly at Mill Master Chemical Company in Berkeley Heights, NJ, as a Chemical Engineer—eventually saving enough to purchase his first home in Plainfield, and later settling in Dunellen. Always ready to lend a hand, Vicente embodied the quiet strength that holds families together. He was a true family man, and he loved his family deeply.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen, and again on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. His funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Dunellen, Interment will follow at Saint Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Vicente’s love and legacy endure in each of us. Rest peacefully, Vicente. You were deeply loved and will be forever missed.
