Vera (Czemeris) Jarema

Vera (Czemeris) Jarema, 93 of South Plainfield, NJ passed away on March 7, 2023 at home.

She was born to Stephen Czemeris and Anna Nesterowich on February 18, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey. She grew up in New Market, attending New Market School and graduating from Metuchen High School.

Vera was married to husband Zenon Jarema for over 64 years, raising 3 children in Plainfield and South Plainfield. She also helped prepare estimates for her husband’s self-employed painting business. Vera was a homemaker who enjoyed family trips to the casino, the Jersey Shore, Vermont and trips out west to visit the National Parks and her granddaughter Nicole in Montana.

She also like to collect Hummels, bake apple pies in the fall, make Christmas cookies yearly and relax on the porch watching the hummingbird’s feed.

Vera is predeceased by her husband Zenon, mother Anna, father Stephen, sister Helen and brothers Steve and Johnny. Surviving is her daughter Kathleen Barko and husband Joseph of South Plainfield, two sons Richard of Somerset and Robert of Hillsborough; two granddaughters, Nicole and Kristin Barko and niece Jennie Batka of Montana.

The family of Vera would also like to thank her two wonderful caregivers Dora and Andrea for their exceptional care.

Family and friends may visit the Sheenan Funeral Home on Monday, March 13th, 2023 from 10 to 12 p.m. A service will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
