Thomas P Reed

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas P. Reed on September 22, 2020.  He was surrounded by love and family and holding his wife Sandy's hand at the time of his death.
Tom was born on March 25, 1963 to Patricia and Thomas Reed.  He was one of Dunellen's exceptional three-sport stars as a high school athlete, standing out in football, baseball, and basketball.  He went on to coach the girls' basketball team at Dunellen High School, was an avid supporter of the Destroyers football team on the sidelines, and was a member of the DHS basketball security staff for the past eight years.  He was also, in the words of close friend Coach Nolan, "the greatest tremendous softball homerun hitter in Dunellen history."
Beyond that, he was most importantly a beloved husband, brother, step-father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to so very many.  He was "a good-looking guy and an excellent singer and dancer" (his words, and one hundred percent true).  He loved his dogs, an occasional cigar, and Elvis Presley...but above all, he loved his family and friends whom he would do anything for at the drop of a hat.
Tom is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Sandra Reed; brother David Reed and sister Kimberly Reed Wilson; step-daughters Jean Wilson Vota and Joy Wilson Ulikowski (Thomas Ulikowski); granddaughters Violet Jane Vota and Rowan Leigh Vota; nieces Kirsten Wilson and Kali Wilson; nephew Evan Wilson; and family and friends too innumerable to list.
According to Toms wishes, a private ceremony will be held for close family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made in Tom's memory to the Dunellen High School Football Fan Club, 411 First Street, Dunellen, New Jersey 08812.  Checks should be made payable to the Dunellen Board of Education.
