Beloved mother, grandmother, American, 93.

Temilda Paul (nee Gonzalez) passed away peacefully and with dignity as she entered God’s kingdom on January 20.

Born in Cali, Columbia on January 5, 1928, Temilda was the oldest of 3 sisters and 1 brother.  Still living are a sister Elodia in Spain and Coralia in Columbia.

After travelling around the world with her parents, she found the American dream in 1961 when she became a citizen and immediately contributed to society as a head nurse at St. Mary Hospital in Passaic.  Subsequently she became a Merchant Marine and seamstress in NYC where she owned a 3 story building in Queens.

Temilda knew 10 languages, loved needlepoint and gardening. 

But more than anything she loved her husband Edward Paul whom she married in 1963 in New York City soon followed by the birth of her daughter Margaret in 1964.  Her family then moved to Lyndhurst to then finally settle in Union, NJ.

Since the passing of her beloved husband in 2014, she shared love, laughter and a wonderful last 6 years with her daughter, son-in-law Chris and grandson Ethan as she became the “Abuelita” of their Bridgewater home.

She was 93.

Despite the tremendous heartbreak of her passing, “Abuelita” will forever live in the hearts of all those who loved her especially her daughter Margaret whom she cherished.

The visitation will be held at Sheenan’s Funeral Home in Dunellen from 9 to 11am on Saturday, January 23. Temilda will be encrypted at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Park in Piscataway.
