Stephen P. Herbig

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Stephen P. Herbig, at the young age of 59.

Stephen, beloved husband of Lisa (Kierenia) Herbig of Dunellen, passed away on April 5, 2025 in New Brunswick.

Born on January 18, 1966 in Jersey City, he was the son of Mary Ellen (Brainard) Herbig of Florida and the late Joseph Herbig.

In addition to his wife and mother, Steve is survived by his children; Rachel, and Nick. Along with his siblings; Karen, David, Robert, Joe, and Mary all who will miss him whole heartedly.

Steve was a dedicated and hardworking individual, known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his deep love for his family. He enjoyed gardening, grilling, playing cornhole with friends, spending quality time with his family and children, and working in the garage on various projects where he could express his creativity. He was passionate about the New York Giants and took great pride in being his kids’ biggest supporter, never missing a game.

A loving and caring father, he took immense pride in his children; Rachel and Nick. Steve’s devotion to his family was evident in everything he did and his generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a cherished husband to his wife, Lisa, and their bond was a testament to his loving nature and dedication to those closest to him.

Steve will be remembered for his kind heart, his strength, and his ability to always put others first. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen from 5 - 8 PM. A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 12th at the Metuchen American Legion Post 65, 17 Calvin Place, Metuchen from 12 - 5 PM.
