Stella Mary Poulsen (Zakolski) passed away on April 17 peacefully at her home.
Stella was born in Perth Amboy to Stanley & Josephine Zakolski on May 7,1927. She married her love, Kenneth A. Poulsen on May 22, 1954. She graduated from Dunellen High School, Dunellen, NJ. Stella worked as the head custodian of the Piscataway Township Board of Education until her retirement at 65 years old. She was involved in the Piscataway Superchief Band, and the Rosary Society of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church of Plainfield. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway.
Stella was an avid reader. She loved to spend time at her shore house in Ortley Beach, as well as camping at her trailer in the Poconos with her family. She was a huge NY Mets fan. She enjoyed many bus trips and vacations with relatives. Her sense of humor and amusing sayings will be remembered fondly.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 67 years, Kenneth Poulsen.
Her 4 children; Mary Ann and her late husband Thomas Grivner, Ken Jr. and wife Deborah Poulsen, Teresa and husband Matthew Massoud, and son Stanley.
Her brothers and sister; Helen (Joseph) Besecker, Edward (late spouse, Barbara) Zakolski, Anthony (Lois) Zakolski.
Grandchildren; Michelle Cochrane, Alexandra Kicia, Keith Grivner, Kyle Poulsen, Travis Poulsen, Casey Poulsen, Adam Massoud, Ryan Massoud.
She has 9 Great Grandchildren. Her loving caregiver Maya and her daughter, Zoe.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, April 21st from 9-12pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave, Dunellen. A funeral service will take place at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
