Sarah Powell 1933-2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Powell, 89, of Milford, NJ who passed away June 15, 2022, while visiting her daughter in Nevada. 

Sarah was born in 1933 to Mary Mc Auley and James Borland in Brooklyn, New York.  She grew up in Piscataway, NJ and resided there until 2019 before moving to Milford, NJ.  She graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1952 and was the last survivor of 5 siblings.  She was married to Robert Powell in 1956.  She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Powell.

She worked for the Piscataway Board of Education at the school library until her retirement in 1998.

Sarah enjoyed retirement and always kept herself busy.  Family meant everything to her and what she enjoyed most was spending time with them.  She spent most of her time with her grandchildren and couldn’t wait for the next visit from her great grandchildren.  Sarah (Grandma) was a best companion to her grandson, Daniel.  She traveled all over with family and was an avid gardener and loved to sew and read.  We love her and will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  Mary Alyce and William Urrego of Milford, NJ.  Kathleen and Stephen Sanzari of Pahrump, Nevada.  Bobby and Renee Powell of Sebastian, Florida.  William and Susan Urrego and their children, Kayla and Shayna of Forest Hill, Maryland.  Daniel Urrego of Frenchtown, NJ.  Jonathan and Aly Urrego and their children, Alex, Niko, and Leni Grace of Warrenton, Virginia.  Bianca Mota of Orlando, Florida.

We will truly miss her great advice, her dry sense of humor, and the one who could always be counted on for being there for us.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, June 24 from 9:00-11:00AM at Sheenan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:15am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Piscataway.
