Sandra (DuBois) Edwards

Sandra Joy Edwards, 87, of Middlesex, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in Bound Brook.  

Sandy was born on June 23, 1935, to John and Leah DuBois of Somerville, and grew up in a home that was always bustling with siblings and extended family. She graduated from Bound Brook High School. Sandy married Jack Edwards in 1960, and together they welcomed their beloved son Doug.

Sandy always wanted to be a nurse, and after studying and earning her license at Somerset Hospital, she embarked on an over-forty-year career of healing and caregiving. She spent many of those years working with developmentally-challenged adults—a role in which her kind heart and easy sense of humor served her well.  

Sandy is preceded in death by her husband Jack, and her brothers James Murphy and Dennis DuBois. She is survived by her son Doug Edwards, sisters Jacqueline Smigel and Cheryl Ostroski, sister-in-law Vera DuBois, and her many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to any animal shelter or to the Mt. Horeb Methodist Church.

Sandy’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Care One at Somerset Valley. Sandy claimed to be a difficult patient, but anyone who knew her knows she was a gentle one. We are grateful she was treated with care and respect.
