Pryor, Robert T.
June 10, 1947 – September 1, 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert “Bob” T. Pryor, beloved brother, uncle and friend on September 1, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Bob was born on June 10, 1947 to William and Eleanor Pryor. The younger of two brothers, he was born in Plainfield and lived in Brick. Bob was a self-employed residential contractor; still consulting up until he lost his short battle with cancer.
A Piscataway High School graduate with an undefeated wrestling record, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966. Throughout his Naval career, he excelled as a deep-sea diver. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Bob attended and graduated from Kean College.
Bob had several hobbies. He loved cruising Europe, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. He was an avid cruiser sharing itineraries, stories and pictures of his adventures whenever the opportunity presented itself. Bob also spent much time restoring his family’s 1965 Chris Craft Ski Boat; smartly named "Pryority", purchased while he was a teenager. For over 20 summers, Bob, his brother Bill and friends had lots of skiing adventures at Normandy Beach. Bob (and Bill) would regale Bill’s three daughters with stories of five-man pyramids, ski-jumps and flying in and out of the bay on a kite with skis. After the boat sat idle for 27 years, Bob decided to repair the classic boat; a labor of love and tribute to his parents and brother. After completion, Bob showed off "Pryority" at vintage and classic boat events and received recognition on more than one occasion.
Even though Bob was taken too soon, he led an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored and appreciated him. He was a doting and dedicated son, helpful brother and involved and caring uncle.
He is predeceased by his parents, William Pryor, Sr. and Eleanor Mary Kee Pryor. He is survived by his older brother William (“Bill”) Pryor, Jr., his nieces, Donna Chingery, Christie Cerone and Kelly Nalbandian, seven great nephews and great nieces, one great-great niece and an amazing network of friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Bob’s life on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. for a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church in Dunellen, NJ. Burial to immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ.
