Richard Carman passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at age 90 on March 17, 2022.
Richard was born to Mr. & Mrs. John Carman on December 14, 1931. He grew up in Manville, New Jersey and remained a New Jersey resident in Piscataway for the duration of his life. He attended school at Bound Brook High School where he led his baseball team to many victories as one of the star pitchers for the team. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1951 through 1955. Richard continued his passion for baseball by coaching his daughter’s softball team and was an ardent fan of the Yankees, tuning in to every game. He was also a steward of the environment and was known for his green thumb, intricately crafted bird houses, love for animals, and passion for fishing along serene lakes. Richard’s creative eye found an outlet in carpentry and he was responsible for crafting many of the homes throughout the community. He also worked as a maintenance foreman at the Middlesex Community College for many of years.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and John (“Junior”). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise, his two children, Debbie and Darlene, his two grandchildren, Joey and Julie, and his nephews and nieces. Richard’s family and friends all have wonderful memories of his considerate, calm, and courageous character that they will forever cherish.
In accordance with Richard’s wishes, his family with have a private celebration of his life. The family wishes to extend their warm gratitude to Richard’s friends and neighbors who have so kindly been a source of support throughout his life.
