Richard Haas, 91 passed away peacefully at home September 10, 2018 surrounded by his surviving loving wife Carmela Haas married for 65 Years. Richard is also survived by his devoted family, son John Haas, daughters and son in laws, Linda and Kevin Loflin, and Julie and John Degutis. Loving grandchildren Amy and Brendan Loflin, and Jonathan and Juliana Degutis and great grandchild Talon. Richard was one of 7 brothers born in Germany. Surviving brothers residing in Germany are Hans and Joseph Haas, along with many nieces, nephews and sisters in laws. Deceased brothers George, Adam, Baptist, and Willie.
Richard came to America in the early 1950's and he met his wife Carmela. Richard was a hard working man with a passion for wood work, he had his own carpentry business, and loved to make his own furniture. He enjoyed gardening with his wife Carmela, and is remembered for gathering his children, grandchilren, nieces and nephews and taking them hiking and sled riding. Richard was also a devoted member of Deutscher Club of Clark. He spent many hours making improvements to the club and enjoyed dancing and listening to the German bands with his wife.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, September 13 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 14 at 10:00am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Dunellen. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
