Ralph Edwards Hutchins, also known as “Hutch,” was born on June 9, 1946, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Violet Allen-Hutchins and Ray Hutchins Jr.
On March 22, 2026, Ralph peacefully transitioned from this world, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
Ralph Hutchins lived much of his early life in Tampa, Florida. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He later welcomed his first child Rhonda Hutchins. After his service, he moved to East Orange, New Jersey.
He later pursued a career as a professional butcher. During this time, he met Jacqueline Hutchins, and together they built a life centered on love and family. They had three daughters — April Hutchins, Samantha Hutchins, and Jessica Hutchins — and eventually settled in Piscataway, New Jersey, where Ralph continued to provide for and care for his family. After 42 years as a butcher, he retired in 2018.
Ralph touched the lives of many and was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, sharp sense of humor, and cool sense of style. He was kind, loving, and respected by all who knew him. He was not only a father to his children, but also a father figure to many others in his community, as well as a loving and supportive brother.
He loved good music, good food, and grilling in the backyard at family gatherings, but most of all, he loved his family.
Ralph shared 45 years of marriage with his wife, Jacqueline Hutchins, a partnership built on love, resilience, and devotion.
Ralph will be remembered and missed by many, including his wife Jacqueline Hutchins; his children, Rhonda Hutchins, April Jones and Shawn Jones, Samantha Hutchins and Kyle Flowers, Jessica Hutchins and Henry Cook; his many grandchildren, including Donovan Flowers, McKenzie Jones, Xavier Jones, Genesis Cook, and Dimitri Flowers; his sisters, Martha Hutchins-Toler, Sarah Hutchins-Garland and Jerome Garland, and Anne Hutchins; his sister in-law Mary Wagner as well as his nieces Melissa Toler, Michele Toler- Williams, Kimberlyn Goode, and Aiesha Smith
Ralph is predeceased by his brothers, Robert Hutchins and James Hutchins, his brother in-law George Toler and his grandson, Travis Flowers.
He will be remembered always and missed deeply by all who loved him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his viewing and funeral service on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Sheenan Funeral Home from 3 to 5:00 PM. Ralph will be laid to rest on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Brigadier General William Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, at 10:30 AM with military honors.
