Oliver "Jud" Randall Butler, III of Bridgewater, NJ passed away at his home on October 4, 2022.
Oliver was born on February 15, 1951 in Queens, NY. He lived in Bayside, NY until his teens before moving to Bridgewater, New Jersey. He graduated from Bridgewater West High School in 1969 and then went onto to receive his Bachelor’s Degree at Washington & Jefferson College. Later, he earned 2 Master's degrees from Montclair State University in English and Economics. After graduating W&J, Oliver joined the Navy Reserves and worked in the Intelligence division, serving in Okinawa, Japan.
Oliver worked in the corporate world for a number of years, first at Emerson Quiet Cool, then Fedders, and finally Ducati Motors, which brought out the motorcycle lover in him. Ultimately Oliver became a high school English teacher for the Paterson Board of Education and loved teaching and working with students.
Oliver met his future wife Deborah in 1977. They were married in 1980 and had two children, Stefanie and Nicholas.
Oliver coached Little League and enjoyed being outside, taking trips to Atlantic City with his wife, riding his motorcycle, BBQing, and holidays and gatherings with family and friends. He loved to play the board game Risk and was a master at chess.
He is predeceased by his parents Oliver Randall Butler II and Estelle Marie O'Donnell. Oliver is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah, their two children Stefanie Perez and Nicholas "Nick" Butler and son-in-law, Alvaro Perez. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Avalyn and Jaxon, as well as his sister, Ruth Beatty, sister-in-law Diana Spano, brother-in-law Frank Spano and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the Sheenan Funeral Home on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a visitation. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Oliver’s name to Huntington's Disease Society of America.
