Nicholas Powell Obituary

Nicholas Enley Henry Powell

July 13, 1985-May 17, 2018

“Our hero in the light and darkness.”

Nicholas “Nick” Enley Henry Powell, age 33, of Piscataway, New Jersey transitioned from his earthly life on May 17, 2018 in Jamaica, Queens.  He was born at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx.  He was the son of Pauline Henry Powell and Alvrick Alinsvert Powell.  He was a leader among his classmates at Hamilton Elementary School, Bartle Elementary School, Quibbletown Middle School and Piscataway High School.  His moral exemplitude and absolute courage led him to pursue ROTC where throughout his 4 years he rose to the highest rank of  Cadet Colonel.  During the summers, he attended Fort McGuire Leadership Academy where he further developed his brilliant deductive skills and technical abilities.  Fueled by his ambition and work ethic, Nicholas chose to attend Middlesex County College and work simultaneously.

In his professional communities, Nicholas was known for his passion, positive energy, and work ethic. He excelled in his position as a Customer Service Representative at the Marriott Hotel.  He served as a Sales Manager, Finance Manager and General Manager at the Open Road Auto Group Car Dealership. His experience and talent earned him the title of e-Commerce Manager at the Mercedes Benz Car Dealership. He then made a professional leap into a new industry by successfully serving as Project Manager at Kraus Marketing.  He was also a social entrepreneur in the area of technology. Nicholas attended Lake Nelson Seventh Adventist Day Church where he was one of the leaders of the Piscataway Eagles Pathfinder Club. He embodied attributes of acceptance, hope and encouragement. Nicholas created joy and delight in every moment, conversation, and game.  His competitive edge and collegiality was illustrated in his love for basketball, kickball and football.  The Annual Kickball Tournament and Annual Football Game of which he was a founding member and invaluable participant will continue through family and friends.

Nicholas’ tenacity, generosity of spirit, charisma, humor and love for humanity will be remembered by all who knew him. Nicholas is survived by his parents (Pauline Henry Powell and Alvrick Alinsvert Powell); siblings (Jozan Maria Powell, Veron Alexis Beverly, Aaron Alexander Powell, Julie Alyssa Powell, and Maurice Hugh Powell); nephews (Paul Emery Wright and Bradyn Amaré Hatfield). Godchildren (Layla Raymond, Jahkeim Brown, Alexander Grizzle, and Madeline Raymond). Nicholas’s legacy is reflected in his community of extended family, close friends and colleagues.
