Deacon Michael P Gleason, 85

Deacon Michael P Gleason peacefully passed away September 28, 2021, in his home in Somerset NJ.

Visitation will be held at St John the Evangelist Church in Dunellen NJ on 317 First st. on Friday October 1, 2021, from 5-9 PM.

Funeral Mass will be held at St John the Evangelist in Dunellen on Saturday October 2, 2021, at 9:30am with Father Alphonsus Kariuki and Father Jim Considine. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.

Deacon Michael was born in New York City to Martin and Anna Gleason on August 2, 1936. He married the love of his life on May 7, 1966. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 55 years, 4 children, Michael Jr, his wife Julie, Mary Kane, her husband Kevin, Kathleen Donovan, her husband Andrew, Timothy Gleason and 6 grandchildren, Maria, Mikey, Erin, Kelly, Riley and Caitlin.

Those that knew him, knew that he was always laughing and wanted you to laugh with him.  He lived to serve and he served with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was a devoted husband, a passionate Deacon,  an adoring father and the silliest of all papas.  If you knew him, then you know this, for he lived his life authentically.  On a lighter note, he was a terrible golfer, so if you only knew him as a tee time pal, then we humbly apologize. 

We celebrate him today and forever.  We ask that you do the same and when you do, we hope that it puts a smile on your face and joy in your heart.
