Mary M Donar

Mary M. Donar, 94, long-time resident of North Plainfield, passed away on January 9, 2023 in Watchung, NJ. 

Mary (known to her brothers as “Sis”, and to nieces and nephews as “Aunt Sis”) was born in Oneida, PA to John J. and Mary Wolk on October 5, 1928.  After High School, she attended Nursing School and became an LPN, and worked for many years at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ.  She married Otto H. Donar on May 25, 1957 in Sheppton, PA.  As the only girl surrounded by six brothers, she was a force to be reckoned with, but also had a heart of gold.   She was a devout Catholic and very devoted to her family.  She cherished traditions, especially at Christmastime, baking with her children and then in later years with her grandsons.   

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Otto H. Donar; her parents John J. and Mary (Gulash) Wolk; brothers John, Thomas, Daniel, Francis, and Joseph Wolk; and niece Mary Ann Speldos.   

Mary is survived by her son Robert (Barbara) Donar of Bridgewater, NJ; daughter Beth Nobles of Wenonah, NJ; grandsons Mitchell (Tarsha) Donar of South China, ME and Matthew (Jennifer) Donar of Auburn, ME; great grandchildren Darby, Adrien, Brooklyn, Madison and Jay; her brother Albert Wolk of Bridgewater; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family of Mary M. Donar wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the caring staff at McAuley Hall Health Care Center. 

Friends may visit the family on Friday, January 13 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14 at 10:00am at St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Bridgewater. All other services will be held privately.
