Mary Murphy, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Wall Township, New Jersey, after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on January 28, 1940, in Orange, New Jersey, to William and Mary Price, Mary was one of three children and raised in Short Hills, NJ. She met the love of her life, James “Jim” Murphy, on a blind date, and they were married on September 9, 1962. Together, they built a beautiful life in Green Brook, where Mary was a proud resident for 56 years. After retirement, Mary worked at Boniakowski Real Estate for 15 years as an Administrative Assistant. She was deeply rooted in her community and cherished her many friendships. She participated in book clubs and dinner clubs and generously gave her time serving on the Board of Health, the PTO, and the local Republican Club. A devoted and active parishioner at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield, Mary lived her faith through prayer, service, and compassion. She served as a Eucharistic minister, was a member of the Rosary Society, and volunteered wherever she was needed - always offering her time, kindness, and steady presence to others.
Mary deeply loved her family and found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and sister. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim; her younger brother, Thomas Price; and is survived by her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Blomquist, her children, Kevin and his wife, Cyndy, and Mark and his wife, Vera. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren—Kelly, Gabe, Austin, Lauren, Meagin, Sarah, and Colin—each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. A viewing will be held at Sheenan’s Funeral Home in Dunellen on Friday February,6 from 8:00-9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM on Friday, at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, North Plainfield, NJ.
