Mary (Fetchina) Leso

Mary Leso, aged 104 of South Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away on October 6, 2023 in Green Brook, New Jersey.

Mary was born in Manville, New Jersey to Mary and William Fetchina on April 19, 1919. She went to school in North Plainfield and was married to John Leso on January 20, 1939. She worked for Harris Steel as a welder during World War II. Mary would later work as a school bus driver for Wardlaw-Hartridge School before retiring many years ago. Mary had many interests, she was involved with the South Plainfield Senior Center and helped with voting on Election Day. She loved to bowl, going to Atlantic City, traveling. She especially enjoyed fishing and was proud of her ability to out fish most "fishermen".

Mary had 5 children: Mary Ann Catanzaro, John Leso, Sherry Pfister,William Leso and Steven Leso. Sherry passed away in June of 2012, and William passed away in August of 2022.Victor Fetchina is her only surviving brother. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family of Mary Leso wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Abingdon Nursing Home and all its staff for caring for her, and also those who loved her.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, October 11 from 10:00am-11:00am at the Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am with entombment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
