Mary J. Donahue

Mary J. Donahue, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 18, 2024. At her home. She was 90 years old.

 Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 13, 1933 to Roy and Mary (Fox) Hampton. She moved to Carteret, N.J. where she raised her family of five children. Mary worked for the Carteret Police Department for many years as a crossing guard getting children safely to school. She then worked for Krauszer’s Food Store in Carteret as an assistant manager. She eventually retired as an office worker from Pathmark’s Paul’s Trucking. Mary was a long-time member of the VFW Star Landing Post #2314, Carteret. And she was a 25-year member of the Supreme Council Columbiettes.

 Mary is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Mary (Fox) Hampton, and her 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Poltorak and her husband Mark of Dunellen; 4 sons – Joseph Donahue and his wife Phyllis of DeSoto, TX; Russell Donahue and his wife Lydia of Waco, TX; Glen Donahue and his wife JoAnn of Carteret; and Vincent Donahue of Dunellen, formerly of Carteret. 10 grandchildren – Joseph Donahue, Nicholas Poltorak and Sara, Jaclyn Kinley and Keith, Mark Poltorak and Karli, Kristopher Donahue and Marylou, Patrick Donahue, Todd Donahue, Briana Terry and Andrew, Jeffrey Donahue and Sarah and Kerry Donahue and Lauren. Mary is also survived by 14 beautiful great grandchildren.

 Funeral service will be on Thursday at 12:00PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen, New Jersey 08812. Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.
