Marie Scherrer Story

Marie Scherrer Story, age 102 of Middlesex, passed away on February 22, 2026 in Bridgewater. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph C. Story, Sr., a WWII flight officer with the Army Air Corp.

Born on October 9, 1923 in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Walter, and Wilhelmina Larrabee.

Marie was a graduate of Irvington High School, and was a proud military wife.

She had worked for the local Middlesex Public Library, was a loyal member of her local book club, and even transitioned to using a Kindle!

She also enjoyed painting Lorston studio pictures and oil painting.

She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's Choir, and enjoyed her favorite pastime: Tea Time with friends, and eating coffee ice cream..

She was a member of Pilgrim Covenant Church, South Plainfield.

She is survived by her daughter; Jacqueline Notte and her late husband Vincent, her son; Joseph Story and his companion Stephanie McConnell. 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

In addition to her husband Ralph, Marie was preceded in death by her sons: Robert Story (USAF), and Ralph Story, Jr., grandson, Jason Story, brother, Joseph Larabee, proud Navy veteran.

She was also preceded in death by her best friend of 95 years; Ruth Tompkins, and her best furry friend Max.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 10:00AM and to her funeral service at 12 noon at Sheenan Funeral Home, Dunellen. Interment will be private.
