Marie R. (Bamonte) Maffucci

WHITEHOUSE STA. - Marie Maffucci, 93, died peacefully with her family in attendance on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Mrs. Maffucci was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. She attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from Plainfield High School.

After high school, she worked as a clerk in Muhlenberg Hospital. There, she met her husband Ralph, when he was at the hospital recovering from an appendix operation.  They found out that their parents grew up in Italy a few miles from each other!  They were married in 1950 and were together for 62 years living in Plainfield, Neshanic Sta., and Whiting NJ.

Mrs. Maffucci was the Secretary/Treasurer for 23 years for their business, Truform Machine Mfg. Co.  She retired in 2000.

Marie loved her family and enjoyed being a mom to her two children and especially delighted in frequent visits from her 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  She was an excellent Italian cook and loved having the family over for Sunday dinners where she would cook homemade lasagna, manicotti  and pasta. She also was an avid reader and liked Agatha Christie novels.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; her parents, Josephine and Joseph Bamonte; brother Louis; and sisters, Johanna Hill, Ann Checchio and Louise Parenti.  

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne DeSorbo and her husband William of Whitehouse Sta. NJ and their children Nicole and her fiance Miguel, Natalie, and a son Ralph Jr. and his wife Barbara of Piscataway and their children, Matthew and his wife, Kristina and daughter Michelle and her fiance Brian.  Marie also had 4 great-grandchildren, Adam, Elliana, Gabriella and Aiden.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 22 at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke's in North Plainfield. Visitation will be from 3-7pm, April 21 at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave. Dunellen, NJ.  Internment will be a private service at William C. Doyle Military Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ.
