Loretta Flatley Willoughby, age 85, passed away on Sunday July 17, 2022. Loretta was born on September 1, 1936 to Martin and Loretta Flatley in Plainfield N.J. She lived in Dunellen for more than forty years, eventually settling in Green Brook.
Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She began her career as a legal secretary with Irving M. Hirsch Esq. immediately after graduating Plainfield High School. Later she became a devoted employee of DeMarco and Lore Attorneys at Law where she worked for more than 35 years and never completely retired, working through April 2022.
Loretta met and fell in love with Jeffrey Willoughby after being introduced by his sister Judi. They went on to have two children, Samuel and Elizabeth. Loretta’s hobbies included reading, crocheting, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Regina Coeli #940, Red Hat Society, and St. Luke’s Rosary Society. She loved her family and friends deeply and was known for her encouraging words and undying support.
Loretta is predeceased by her parents, her husband Jeffery and her siblings Martin and Mary. She is survived by her children Elizabeth, Samuel and his spouse Julianne Willoughby along with her beloved grandchildren Samantha and Sean.
She will be missed by all.
A visitation will be held on Thursday July 21, 2022 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Sheenan Funeral Home 233 Dunellen Ave. Dunellen NJ. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in North Plainfield. Burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
