Lillian Josephine Frank of North Plainfield, died on May 6, 2020 at the age of 102.
Lillian was born on March 19,1918 to Salvatore and Carmella Bongiorno of the Bronx, New York, where she was also raised.
She married Harold Frank on November 3,1946 and thereafter resided in North Plainfield for 70 years.
After raising her daughter, Lillian was employed by C. R. Bard as a Corporate Secretary, retiring in 1986.
A devout parishioner of The Church of St. Luke, she had been a member of the Rosary/Altar Society in earlier years, was also a 40 year member of The Catholic Daughters, Court Regina Coeli 940, and volunteered weekly in years past at the Villa Maria Home For The Aged, assisting as a receptionist.
Lillian was spirited, pragmatic, steadfast in faith, a devoted wife and mother.
She enjoyed her family and friends, volunteering and helping others.
An accomplished knitter, she also enjoyed reading and walking.
Lillian faced the autumn of her life with acceptance and a positive outlook, appreciative of life's simple pleasures.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, brother Carmine Bongiorno, twin sister Rose Poetto, husband of 62 years Harold Frank, and most recently, son-in-law Thomas Joannou.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Frank Joannou of Branchburg, 2 nephews, 6 nieces, extended family, friends and devoted caregiver Liana.
A private visitation and service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
Lillian will then be entombed next to her beloved husband at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
A Memorial Mass will be held as soon as possible after the pandemic.
Donations may be given in Lillian's name to The Church of St Luke, 300 Clinton Avenue, North Plainfield, New Jersey 07063-1613.
In loving remembrance of Lillian, the family requests people keep the elderly and infirm in thought and prayer, offering a small gesture of kindness whenever possible.
