Katherine Flynn Connolly

Katherine Flynn Connolly, 81, of Green Brook, passed away on August 2, 2023.

Kathy was born in Plainfield, NJ to James A. Flynn and Gertrude R. Flynn

VanMater on March 18, 1942. The family moved to Green Brook in 1953. She

graduated from Dunellen High School in 1960 and went on to earn her RN license

from Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing in 1963. Kathy was a lifelong learner

who became a Certified Emergency Room Nurse and later returned to school to

earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Upsala College in 1985. She married

Richard John Connolly Jr. on September 12, 1964 at St. John’s Church in

Dunellen. The couple resided in Green Brook for 57 years. Kathy enjoyed a career

as an ER nurse for 35 years and then moved into Utilization Review at Robert

Wood Johnson in New Brunswick. An avid crafter, she spent many happy hours

making handmade items for friends and family.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son Robert James

Connolly. She is survived by her husband, her son Richard J. Connolly III and his

wife Susan of Green Brook, her daughter Katherine M. Connolly of Green Brook,

her sister Barbara J. Flynn of New York City, and her brother James A. Flynn Jr.

and his wife Lorraine, of Hampton, NJ. Kathy is also survived by her four

grandchildren and her large and loving extended family.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, August 9 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home. All other services are to be held privately.
