NORTH PLAINFIELD - Joyce Ann Bavosa, 83, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Meredith and Emma Myers.
Joyce was a graduate of Westfield High School. She worked as a secretary at Lockheed Electronics in Watchung for many years, Shaffer Products in Middlesex, and Ranney Associates in Westfield before retiring in 1996.
Joyce was a horseback riding enthusiast since childhood. She was an accomplished equestrian and her horse, Revelation, a Hunter/Jumper Champion. Later as an adult she was actively involved in the local 4-H Horse Club and local rated horse shows with her daughter for many years. She was a den leader for the Boy Scouts of America, a door-to-door fundraiser for childhood cancer awareness, the newspaper editor and publisher for the North Plainfield Women's Club for over 16 years, and an accomplished bowler with the Somerset County Recreation and Strike 'n Spare Leagues for over 40 years.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 2014, her son Bradford in 1966, her youngest sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Haig), brothers Dick, Raymond, and Thomas (KIA Vietnam). Surviving are her two sons, Scott and David Bavosa of North Plainfield, a daughter, Deborah Bavosa of Ashland, Oregon; five brothers (Walter, Kenny, Gerry, Teddy, and Phillip Myers), one sister (Dottie Kurzenberger), four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bavosa's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sat. from 11-1 p.m. at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen.
