Josephine (Romeo) Mileto

Guiseppina (Josephine) Romeo-Mileto passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 5, 2021 in Bridgewater, NJ at age 85.  Born on October 30, 1935 in Tresilico, a small town in Calabria, Italy to Giuseppe A. Romeo and Maria Giuseppina Burzomato. 

Josephine is the youngest of four children.  The Romeo family migrated to Plainfield NJ in 1947.  In 1953 she married Rocco Mileto in  Tresilico, Italy and returned to NJ and started a family.  Josephine  was like no other, she will be most remembered for her quick wit, lively sense of humor and infectious laugh. Josephine was a little lady with a big personality that you couldn’t help but be drawn to. Josephine adored her family and always made sure they were safe, happy and healthy, being with them and all who loved her was her ultimate happiness. She truly was the center of our family. 

We couldn’t talk about Josephine without mentioning her love for bingo and many trips to Atlantic City.  Josephine could also be found in her garden, knitting or watching her favorite game shows. 

Josephine leaves behind to mourn her loving brother Gino Romeo. 

Her beloved children Carmela and her husband Robert, Vincent and wife Nancy, Rita and husband Robert. 

Her beloved Grandchildren RosaMaria, Ashley, Andrew and his wife Megan and James. Additionally she leaves to mourn various cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Josephine is pre-deceased by her husband, Rocco and brothers Domenic, Guido, Frank. 

The family is grateful for the gracious and compassionate care offered by the Complete Care Staff during their Mothers stay.  

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, August 10 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm. Cremation will be held privately.
