John J. Weniger Jr., 71, who was a long time resident of Middlesex Borough and most recently a resident of Whitehouse Station passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022 at his home in Whitehouse Station.
John was born in Plainfield to John and May Weniger on November 7, 1950. He grew up in Green Brook with his two brothers. He went to school in Dunellen and graduated from Dunellen High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany where he served as a mechanic and driver. He married Janet Keyser on September 22, 1973 in Dunellen. He worked as a Crane and Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Hoffman Equipment in Piscataway for approximately 24 years before partially retiring in 2016. He continued to work with Hoffman Equipment until 2020 where he instructed a crane operator’s course and consulted on crane repair. He enjoyed golf, softball, driving and repairing radio controlled cars and tinkering with model trains. He shared his love of these sports and hobbies with his sons and grandchildren daily. He was a devoted family man who always put the needs of his family first.
John is preceded in death by his oldest son Jason Weniger, his father John Weniger Sr. and his mother May Weniger.
John is survived by his adoring wife Janet Weniger: his son Jeremy Weniger (wife Nicole): brothers Thomas Weniger, and Timothy Weniger (wife Laurie): grandchildren Tyler Weniger (son of Jason); Alexander Weniger (son of Jeremy), and Cameron Weniger (daughter of Jeremy).
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, March 15 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave in Dunellen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately.
