On February 7, 2023, John Triolo, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 76.
John was born on August 10, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Pasquale Triolo. He was born in Plainfield and lived in Dunellen for most of his life. John was a lifelong learner. He loved everything about Dunellen, collecting postcards and other memorabilia about the town throughout his life. He later co-authored the book “Dunellen (Images of America)” with his high school friend, Liz Marren-Licht, which was released in May 2012. John was delighted when asked to talk about the history of the town and to participate in book signings after its publication. He also served on the Board of the Dunellen Public Library for several years. John was named Dunellen’s Citizen Volunteer of the Year 2016 and he considered it a major award.
John was a passionate outdoorsman, devoting many years camping and fishing with his family. Some of the best times of his life were spent camping in the woods with his grandchildren, passing along his knowledge and enthusiasm for nature-loving activities. John’s biggest hobby at home was maintaining his unique collections which reflected his varied interests. He enjoyed online auctions and yard sales for this reason.
John met his future wife, Barbara, as they were both working in the same store while in high school. They married not long after graduating and were married for 58 years. They were devoted to one another.
John is predeceased by his parents and his son, John Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his daughter Michelle (Deron), his brother Ed (Nancy), and his grandchildren Aaron, Sammi, and Lorel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Entombment will be private.
