John A Finney, 62 years young and a life-long Dunellen resident, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025. John was currently employed by Securitas Security of Edison, NJ and among his previous jobs had been working for the Dunellen Parking Authority. He enjoyed his position as a member of the Dunellen Shade Tree Commission and recently became a member of the Middlesex Elks Lodge No. 1488. John had an easygoing personality and always sought to lend a helping hand, as evidenced by his previous volunteer work with the Dunellen Rescue Squad. He was an avid baseball fan and followed the New York Yankees intensely. On the local level, he had season tickets for many years for the Somerset Patriots baseball team.
He especially enjoyed watching the young prospects develop into major league players. John was an animal lover and had adopted many dogs over the years and thoroughly enjoyed the company of “man’s best friend”. John was preceded in death by his parents, Alton (Bus) and Kathryn Finney and four siblings, Colleen, Shirley, Michael and James. He is survived by his brother Thomas Finney of Readington, NJ. and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral Services are provided by Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen and visitation hours are 4-8 PM on March 25, 2025. Burial to be on the following morning at Bound Brook Cemetery.
