Jeffrey Steven Blackadar
On March 14, 2022, Jeffrey Steven Blackadar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 64.
Jeffrey was born on July 4, 1957 to Phyllis and John Blackadar. Jeff graduated from Watchung Hills HS in 1975, attended Paul Smith College, and graduated from Raritan Valley College. He married Christine Murray in 1980 then resided in Green Brook, NJ. They moved to Watchung to a home they built in 1984 where they raised three beautiful daughters: Katherine, Kimberly, and Stephanie.
He joined his dad and brother working for Blackadar Heating in 1978. He loved the idea of having a family business. Jeff developed many lifelong friends through business contacts.
Jeff joined the Watchung Chemical Engine Company in 1978 where he enjoyed serving his town and making lasting friendships. He became chief of the Fire Company in 1998. When he wasn’t volunteering at the fire company, he loved to coach his daughters’ softball teams. He was an avid tennis player. As he got older, he found the second love of his life: golf. Every Sunday morning he could be found on the course with his “foursome”.
Summers were spent at the family cottage in Muskoka, Canada finding projects that needed attention or boating over to his relatives’ cottage for a nice visit. Jeff spent time with his children, nieces and nephews hiking and camping at the Delaware Water Gap with his dad and brother.
He is survived by his wife Christine, daughters Katherine Van Saun (James), Kimberly Hynson (Steven) and Stephanie, three grandchildren, brother John, sister Lynda, many sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
There will be a viewing at Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen on Sunday 3/20/22 from 3-7 pm and a 10:00 am church service Monday, 3/21/22 at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung.
