Jean A. (MacLean) Zazzara

Jean A. (MacLean) Zazzara, born in 1939, died on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at age 85. She was born in Kearny, NJ and grew up in Union Beach, NJ. She was a lifelong resident of Piscataway since 1959.

Jean studied ballet in her early years and had, according to her teacher, a promising career as a dancer. However, a serious knee injury ended that.

She attended grammar school in Union Beach, NJ and High School in Keyport, NJ.

Jean worked various jobs in her teens as a waitress and after graduating High School, she was a keypunch operator for Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ. She worked for several years at Fromm Electric as a receptionist and secretary to the sales force, retiring at age 63.

She attended First Presbyterian Church in Dunellen, NJ for nearly 50 years and served as a Deacon and Elder for several of those years. Her hobbies included bird-watching, music and reading.

Jean's beloved husband, Louis Zazzara, predeceased her in 2021. Jean is survived by daughter, Wendy Richards and son-in-law, Jim Richards; daughter, Yvonne Zazarra; granddaughter, Heather (Richards) Vesuvio and her husband, Anthony; grandson, Drew Richards and his wife, Amy; grandson, Lucas Krzysztow; grandson, Vincent Krzysztow; great-granddaughter, Peyton; great-granddaughter, Isabella; and great-grandson, Austin. Also surviving to treasure her memory is her brother, Johnny MacLean an his wife, Kathleen; her brother, Jerry MacLean; her sister, Jill (MacLean) Lambert and her husband, Jack; and her brother, Jay MacLean and his wife, Dianne.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 8:00AM to 9:30AM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen, NJ 08812.   A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 218 Dunellen Avenue in Dunellen, concluding with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
