Janet M Forgash Obituary

Janet Marie Forgash of Piscataway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at the age of 90. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by loved ones and her faith.

Janet was born in Somers Point, New Jersey along with her twin brother John, to John and Viola Green Brangenberg on April 9, 1933. While living on Jefferson Avenue in North Plainfield, Janet attended Somerset Elementary School. She spent her childhood watching Shirley Temple and summering at Yankee Lake. In June, 1951, Janet proudly graduated from North Plainfield High School. After high school, Janet worked at Singer Sewing teaching sewing classes as a stepping stone toward a career in fashion design.

Fashion design would have to wait as on December 23, 1951 in her parents’ North Plainfield home, Janet married Guy Miller. Together, Janet and Guy had three children , Barbara, Lawrence, and Guy who love her dearly.

Some of Janet’s happiest years were her 25 years of marriage to Jack Forgash of Piscataway. They had the perfect partnership, they did everything together, and they had a home filled with love. Until their retirement, they worked together for many years at Perl’s Drug Store in Somerville where they were known by everyone. Throughout her life, Janet worked to help others through her dedication to Green Brook Garden Club, The Ostomy Association where she served as an officer, traveled to national conferences, and worked to help people who were new ostomy patients . Later in her life, Janet held many important roles at Christ United Methodist Church in Piscataway. She was a greeter on Sundays, an active member of the craft group, worked on the bulletin and newsletter, and a member of the UMW where she proudly received a missionary award.

Janet was predeceased by her parents John Brangenberg and Viola Brangenberg Schneider and her beloved husband Jack Forgash.

Surviving Janet are her three treasured children Barbara Unger(Alan), Lawrence Miller (Dawn), and Guy Miller(Jenn). The loves of Janet’s life were her precious grandchildren Jonathan Unger( Chris), Bryan Unger, Chelsea Scholl ( Kevin), Lawrence Miller II( Emily), Liz Miller (Lexi), Megan Seeger(Martin), and Alex Miller. Janet was blessed to be a great grandmother to Makenzie, Hailey, Conner, Claire, and Haven. Janet is also survived by her beloved and always faithful twin brother John Brangenberg(Marie). All enjoyed the warmth of special family hugs from Janet.

Memorials may be given to The Ostomy Association and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Grace Hospice and Christ United Methodist Church.
