James J. Howley, 91, of Dunellen, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, he was the son of the late John and Mary Howley.
James, a devoted husband and father, was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Barbara Pellicano, husband Michael, and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Emily. James is also survived by his brother, Steve Howley, of Bayonne, and his sister Veronica Preola, of Blanca, Colorado.
James served in Japan and Korea with the U.S. Army as a radio operator. Before retiring, he worked as a chemical engineer at National Starch & Chemical Company. He will be remembered for his kind and caring spirit and for the many years spent with his cherished grandchildren.
Private services will be held in James’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in James’s name to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
