Jackelyn Elise McCann, 35, of Dunellen, NJ passed away on October 21, 2022 in Passaic. Jackelyn was born in Plainfield, NJ. She attended schools in Piscataway (Our Lady of Fatima), Dunellen (John P. Faber School), Clark (Carl H. Kumpf Middle School) and Arthur L. Johnson High School, graduating with the class of 2005. She also attended Union County Vocational School (UCVTS) in Scotch Plains, NJ in 2005. While at UCVTS she completed the Allied Health Program and along with partner Toni Mack, they competed in the National HOSA competition and won first place-quite an achievement! They went on to compete Nationally in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduation Jackelyn attended classes at Union County College in Cranford, NJ and worked as an ophthalmologist assistant. She enlisted in the Army and graduated boot camp from Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and served time before settling down to start a family. Jackelyn was extremely kind, had a fun sense of humor, and a remarkable memory, especially when it came to remembering numbers. In addition to loving her children, she was passionate about animals. She enjoyed reading, writing, listening to music, and watching game shows and Adam Sandler movies. She was a fan of ‘I Love Lucy’. Growing up Jackelyn demonstrated a flair for the arts and danced ballet and modern dance, took gymnastic lessons, played the piano, flute and guitar. She also joined the Girl Scout and participated in backyard wrestling during her high school years. She was an altar server at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Jackelyn was predeceased by maternal grandfather John Thomas “Jack” McCann and paternal grandfather Robert Louis Androshick. She is survived by daughters Savanna and Kyla, her mother Moya (McCann) Flanagan and stepfather Tom Flanagan, brothers Tommy Flanagan II and Anthony Caldarella, maternal grandmother Kathleen (Connolly) McCann, paternal grandmother Murial (Sloun) Androshick, paternal step-grandmother Mary (Rector) Flanagan, aunts Katie Olsommer (Mark), Maureen Clark (Tom), Maureen Androshick, uncles John McCann and Mark Androshick, father Robert II, and cousins Casey, Joseph, Michael, Angela, Ryan, Nicole, Eric and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, November 1 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen. Friends and family may gather at 9:00am prior to the10:00am funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church in Dunellen on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Burial will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
