On March 27 2023, Henrietta Capano, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 98.
Henrietta was born on March 10, 1925 in Pittsburgh Pa. After attending high school and business school she moved to New Rochelle NY to take a job as a bookkeeper at Hudson Country Day School. It was at Hudson that she met and married her husband James Capano.
After moving back to NJ and settling in Green Brook, Henrietta worked as a bookkeeper at West End Glass in Somerville, NJ. However Henrietta’s greatest joy and what mattered most to her was raising her family and being a mother and grandma to all her three children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church for over 60 years participating in many church functions. After retiring from West End Glass she worked part time at Macy’s and spent much of her time volunteering for the FISH organization and Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Henrietta is predeceased by her parents, husband James and sisters, Madeline, Adeline and Verna. She is survived by her daughters Barbara Whyte (Jim), Michele Morley (Chris), son David Capano (Elizabeth), and grandchildren Jim Morley, Kristin MacFarlane, Meghan Morley, Andrew Whyte, Katherine Capano, Melissa Capano and great grandchildren Evelyn and Graham Morley.
Friends may pay their respects and visit the family on Friday March 31 from 4pm to 7pm at Sheenan Funeral Home Dunellen NJ. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Virgin, Middlesex, NJ on Saturday April 1 at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Henrietta’s name to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/
