Gerard Myers

On March 16, 2021, Gerard H. Myers, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 86.

Gerry was born on January 13, 1935 in Plainfield, NJ to Meredith John and Emma Myers. He was the 5th of 11 children.

Gerry graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1953, and proudly served in the US Marine Corp. He was employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone Company where he met his wife, Joyce. Together, they raised their three daughters in North Plainfield.

He was a devoted family man. He loved camping expeditions with his girls, kicking around with his nieces and nephews at family picnics, long walks with his grandchildren to the lake, and playing pool.

Maybe to escape the estrogen at home, Gerry also volunteered with the town recreation basketball and softball programs. He enjoyed bowling in his free time and a good competitive game of pool volleyball. He lived a life of gentleness and grace with a sense of humor to the end.

Gerry is predeceased by his parents and his siblings: Richard, Raymond, Joyce, Thomas, and Margaret (Peggy).

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce, daughters: Deborah Myers, Nancy Purcell-Holmes (Mark), and Pamela Sasso (Michael), as well as his grandchildren: Ryan (Gillian), Thomas (Catie), Patrick (Serena), Bianca, Matthew, and Andrew who will miss him dearly. And his brothers, Kenneth (Marie), Walter (Shirley), Teddy (Shirley), Phillip (Rosalyn) and sister, Dorothy (Paul) and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, March 20 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at Sheenan Funeral Home 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen, NJ.
