Georgina G. Wilkinson

Georgina G. Wilkinson passed peacefully at home on July 3, 2024. She shared 97 years of love with her family.

Georgina was the youngest of three daughters; born August 5 th 1926 to George and Marian Gage in Plainfield, NJ. After her schooling she went on to study at the Teachers College of NJ where she earned her BA in Physical Education. It was while she was pursuing her degree that she earned her single engine pilots license at Hadley Airport. In 1953 she married Robert Wilkinson and shortly after settled in Dunellen. After they started their family, Georgina was fortunate to be home but still active in the PTA, Womens Club, assisted with the Girl Scouts and took on grooming duties for her daughters’ equine events. As the years went on, she shared her love for learning through substituting in the classroom allowing her to stay connected to her profession.

In her free time, Georgina shared her remarkable talent in knitting. Her handmade blankets and gifts were a testament to her skill and creativity, bringing warmth and joy to those who received them. She eagerly looked forward to her time with the South Plainfield Seniors, where she gathered with friends to knit, chat, and share in the camaraderie that brought her so much happiness.

Predeceased by her husband Robert (2001), her sisters Dorothy Schneider and Marian Fischer and nephew Conrad Fischer; she leaves her devoted daughter Diane Wilkinson and nieces Gail Farnsworth, Nancy Rice Marotta, Cynthia Frankovsky and Linda Davis.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9 th from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Sheenan Funeral Home. Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of Dunellen Rescue Squad, 415 North Ave, Dunellen, NJ 08812 or the Dunellen Police Department, 355 North Avenue, Dunellen NJ 08812. Their kindness and care were greatly appreciated throughout Georgina’s final years.
