Ferne M. (Amon) Maronna, of Piscataway, the loving wife of 42 years, to the late Charles Maronna, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Edison. She was 78 years old and had been a resident of Piscataway for over 55 years.
Born on January 13, 1947, in Staten Island, NY, Ferne was the daughter of the late George Miles and Frieda (Ehren) Amon. She was also predeceased by her three older brothers, George E. (2014), Bruce C. (1999), and Dennis D. Amon (1980).
Ferne graduated from Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, NY, in 1964, and later earned a degree from Rutgers University.
She worked for many years as a Division Manager of Fiscal Operations, for the Office of Aging in Middlesex County, before retiring in 2019.
Ferne was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling in numerous leagues. She loved playing the slot machines at casinos and traveling to new places. Some of her favorite trips included visits to Italy, Hawaii, and Alaska. She was thrilled to fulfill her longtime wish of horseback riding on a beach in Jamaica and experienced a great adventure going parasailing with her great-niece, Karly, and great- nephew, Dylan.
Known for her quick wit, Ferne always had a funny story or joke to share. Those who knew her will fondly remember her love for an ice-cold Pepsi.
Ferne is lovingly survived by her son, Keith Bunker and his husband, Jeff Demoreski, of Edison, NJ; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank (Tippy) and Doreen Maronna, of Staten Island, NY; her nephews and nieces, George and Pam Amon of Wallkill, NY; Bruce and Helen Amon of St. Louis, MO; and Cindy and Rocco Sansone of Toms River, NJ; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
