November 13, 1939 – December 8th 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ermin DeVito, 85, of Pittstown, NJ, on December 8th 2024. Ermin was surrounded by his beloved family and passed peacefully.
Ermin was born on November 13, 1939, in Newark, NJ, to Concetta (Forcella) DeVito and Fred DeVito. He grew up in East Orange, NJ, and attended Arts High School in Newark, where his exceptional artistic talent began to shine.
Ermin married, Marie Campanella, in Newark, NJ, and the couple later moved to Green Brook, NJ, to the home he designed and built himself. Together, they raised three children. He is predeceased by his daughters, Donna DeVito (March 25, 1964 – September 30, 1991) and Lisa DeVito Guerriero (July 8, 1967 – December 13, 2018). He is survived by his son, Anthony DeVito, and Anthony’s wife, Lisa Jenkins DeVito, of Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Ermin was the proud grandfather of four cherished grandchildren whom all reside in White House Station, NJ:
• Joseph DeVito, 23
• Vincent DeVito, 20
• Anthony Guerriero, 23
• Isabella Guerriero, 21
He adored his grandchildren and lived to be an integral part of their lives, always offering them love, wisdom, and support.
Ermin is also survived by his siblings:
• Rena Smith
• Judy Pizzachello
• Donald DeVito
He is predeceased by his sister, Erma Byers.
Later in life, Ermin and Marie moved to Pittstown, NJ, where Ermin continued to bring his boundless creativity to everything he did. A plumber by trade, Ermin was widely known as the man who could build anything and help anyone. Beyond his profession, he was an incredibly gifted artist and craftsman, designing and building two family homes and inspiring those around him with his talent and dedication.
Ermin was also an avid deer hunter who cherished his time in the great outdoors. He frequently embarked on hunting trips with his friends and his son, creating countless memories that they will treasure forever.
Ermin’s generosity and creativity were matched only by his devotion to his family.
Ermin’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
