On Feb 3, 2021 Edward Gang, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 83.
Ed was born in Manhattan, NY to Tom Gang and Toy Won Gee in 1937, and grew up in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and was stationed in France and at McGuire AFB. He was honorably released from active duty in 1960 and reserve service in 1963. Also in 1963, he earned a degree from Hunter College with a major in Mathematics and minor in Physics.
He joined Union Carbide as a Computer Programmer based in NY, then moved to the Bound Brook, NJ office. He married Carolyn Pollard in 1968 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He and his family relocated to Stony Point, NY in 1975 with the company which became First Brands. He retired as a Systems Analyst after 37+ years with the company.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, son Sean, siblings Alice, Frances, Florence, Helen, Dorothy, Stanley, Rose, and Robert. Ed is survived by his wife Carolyn, 3 children Tom, Scott & Kristin, and 5 grandchildren Tommy, Katie May, James, Alyssa, and Michael.
As a young man, Ed played hockey, was an avid fan of big band and swing music and loved to dance. He also loved puzzles and trivia. He would track all kinds of sports statistics and enjoyed playing golf and watching it on tv. He cared deeply for his family including many nieces and nephews, and loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He would do anything for his grandchildren, attending all of the concerts and events he could. Never missing an opportunity to climb a tree with them especially on apple picking outings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at Sheenan’s Funeral Home (233 Dunellen Avenue Dunellen, NJ) from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm followed by the burial at 1:30 pm at Bound Brook Cemetery.
