Edward M. Gamao, MD, passed away most Peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Watchung, NJ. He was surrounded with Love, by his family. 

He was born on June 2, 1940 and was nearing 84.

Eddie was born in Cebu City, Philippines. He came to the United States in 1967 to practice medicine, with his first wife who was a medical internist, Allen Hechanova MD, who had an untimely passing. It was his father Elpidio’s dream for his son to come to the United States.  Eddie married Dr Zenaida Magalindan an OB/GYN, and they practiced medicine together in Piscataway, NJ. He enjoyed treating his patients and serving the community.  

Eddie is predeceased by his parents, Elpidio and Margarita (Mendoza) Gamao, a sister Nancy Gamao, and his wife, Zenaida Magalindan Gamao M.D. in 1988. He is survived by his children, Mary Anne Rivera of Watchung; Margaret Gamao of Union; John Edward Gamao of Los Angeles, CA.; his Dearest significant other, Nellie Justiniani, a retired Registered Nurse; and his beloved sisters in the Philippines and Canada, Virgie, Evelyn & Elsie.

Eddie lived a full Life and he was very much Loved. He was an example of hard work, dedication and generosity to his family and community. He showed us how to enjoy and experience Life, and how to handle the challenges that Life presented. He did so simply, honestly and with dignity.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass at Our Lady of Fatima  Church, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway NJ, on Saturday June 15, 2024 at 10:30 AM. The entombment will immediately follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 1734 Clinton Avenue, South Plainfield NJ (at approximately 11:30 AM).
