Doris J. (Handle) Haas, beloved wife of the late George Haas, passed away on August 16, 2025 in Toms River. She was 90.
Born on November 17, 1934 in Somerville, Doris was the daughter of the late Adolph and Minnie (Engelman) Handle.
She was a former employee of Mack Trucks in Bridgewater and later worked as a bookkeeper at Haas Construction which was her husband’s company.
Doris absolutely loved children, especially her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for pets.
She spent many hours dedicated to knitting baby blankets and hats that were donated to local hospitals for newborns.
One of her favorite past times was walking the beach looking for seaglass, and watching swans at the Jersey shore with her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen Vega and her husband Efrain of Toms River; her grandchildren, Erik, Evan, and Kayla Vega; and her sister, Ruth Eberspacher and her husband Ralph; and her beloved pet, “Biscuit.”
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Brian Haas, and her dear pet, “Bella.”
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Sheenan Funeral Home from 6 – 9:00 PM, and to her funeral mass on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Saint John the Evangelist Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
