Donald Clinton Draper

Don Draper, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 28, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He passed at home with his loving family by his side.

Don was born on April 2, 1946 in Jersey City, NJ to Philip and Helen Draper. He graduated from Clifton High School and while attending Rutgers University, he was drafted into the army. During his tour in Vietnam, he trained as a computer operations specialist. Upon honorable discharge, he continued his career in computer operations, working for Johnson & Johnson for 28 years, retiring in 2004.

Don met his wife of 53 years, Ann, on a blind date set up by his brother. Their first date was in Dunellen at the Rathskeller. They later moved to Dunellen where they raised their two daughters.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed spending time outdoors. He had a strong interest in herpetology, and found joy in caring for the reptiles and amphibians he rescued. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Most of all Don will be remembered for his good sense of humor, strong faith, sharp wit, and always being a source of great advice.

Don is predeceased by his parents, Philip and Helen Draper. He is survived by his wife Ann Draper (DeGroot), his daughter Sue Ann Hulack and her husband Lance, daughter Michelle Annese and her husband Brian, his brother Bob and his six grandchildren Cameron, Rylee, Marissa, Justin, Trevor and Derek.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10-11:30am, immediately followed by a service from 11:30-12pm at Sheenan Funeral Home, located at 233 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don’s memory may be made to the Woodlands Wildlife Refuge online at woodlandswildlife.org.

Cremation will be private.
