Donald Adamczyk, of Niskayuna, NY, formerly of Somerset, Piscataway, and Bayonne, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 3:50 pm at Ellis Hospital after a long struggle with the complications of cancer treatment. His partner and son were at his side. Don was 75 years old.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, he was the only child of Stanley and Josephine (Pierce) Adamczyk, both deceased. He retired in 2020 from his lifetime passion and musical career as a guitar and bass player, organist, singer, and songwriter. The final 15 years, he performed all over New Jersey and the tri-state area with his life partner, Melodie Somers, in the musical duo of Somers & Steel. He was a joyous entertainer who lit up the room with his smile. He also had a 30-year career in real estate, most recently in Martinsville, NJ, while raising his son with his ex-wife, Karen.
He was a beloved man of integrity, humor, kindness, and joy. He is survived by his Life Partner, Melodie Somers, his son, Daniel Adamczyk, his ex-wife, Karen Adamczyk, his cousin, Martin Pierce, and many friends, former colleagues and fans of his music and uplifting personality. A memorial service will be held at Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave, Dunellen, NJ, on June 15, 2024, from 2:00 - 5:00.
