Dennis Patrick Mooney passed away on November 30, 2021 quietly and peacefully. He is survived by his brother, Kevin Mooney, his sister-in-law, Catherine Amato Mooney, and his nephew/godson, Patrick L. Mooney. Dennis' parents, Edward Mooney and Theresa Hughes Mooney passed away in 2004.
Dennis is a graduate of Immaculata High School in Somerville, NJ. He was a former employee of Johnson & Johnson Corporate Headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ and of Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church in Dunellen, NJ and recently of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in East Brunwick, NJ.
An avid sports fan, Dennis was a staunch supporter of the N.Y. Rangers hockey team and the Somerset Patriots minor league baseball team. He enjoyed the novels of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot. In his later years, Dennis enjoyed many theatrical performances, both in local venues as well as several Broadway musicals.
He enjoyed laughing all the time. His computer was a mainstay of his leisure time and spent hours listening to digital music. Dennis' favorite travel experience was a week-long stay at Disney World in Florida (The Country Bear Jamboree and Festival of the Lion King).
His favorite saying was: "Maybe tomorrow will be a better day." He will be missed and remembered.
Friends may visit the family on Monday, December 6 from 4:00-8:00PM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Avenue in Dunellen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7 at 10:00am at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 470 Ryders Lane in East Brunswick. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in his name to the East Brunswick Department on Aging/Senior Center at 732-390-6896.
